Risk Factors Associated with Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy

Introduction: To determine the risk factors of hypertensive disorders pregnancy (HDP) among pregnant women. Methods: In this study, we included 200 patients, 100 were those who diagnosed with any HDP and control did not have HDP. The study was conducted in Nishtar Hospital Multan from June-2021 to June-2022. Women having blood pressure (BP) ≥140/90 mmHg 20 weeks gestation labelled as Risk noted. Results: Mean age patients 28.45±8.45 years cases 30.41±9.61 controls. On univariate analysis, >35 Univariate analysis done Age (OR 3.63 (1.08-12.18), p-value 0.02), obesity 3.16 (1.03-9.68), 0.03), living rural area 2.26 (1.01-5.05), 0.04), nulliparity 3.45 (1.22-9.75), 0.016), positive family history hypertension 4.04 (1.21-13.43), 0.017), twin pregnancy, lack regular visit antenatal clinics 0.31 (0.12-0.95), Previous abortion 9.33 (1.12-77.7), 0.01), chronic 4.5 (0.91-22.7), 0.04). Conclusion: This revealed lifestyle, old age, multiple pre-pregnancy weight independent factors. It is advised that health care providers employ these indicators a screening tool for prediction, early diagnosis, timely intervention problems.
